Fabrice Martin Vosne Romanee 2014

Nestled in the little village of Vosne-Romané e, Head up north from highway D974 is where you will find this small family-owned domaine, Fabrice Martin. It used to be known as Martin-Noblet (uncle of Bernard Noblet, the chief winemaker of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti), but has changed its name since 2000 when Fabrice Martin took over the vines of his father.

Owned 3.5 ha of land, Fabrice Martin is producing only 4,000 bottles (two barrels) annually, including Vosne-Romanée, Gevrey-Chambertin and Nuits-St.-Georges. He owns neither Grand Cru nor Premier Cru, yet his village wines are very remarkable. The striking thing about Fabrice Martin's wines is their elegance and purity. Only a minimum of new oak is used and his villages generally evoke memories of fresh violets, spices and fruits. The Vosne-Romané e is more reserved and tends toward flower and herb aromas, where the Gevrey-Chambertin is associates with dense fruit and lifted style with a very structured backbone.
